American Eagle stands up for Sydney Sweeney after leftists call her racist over ‘good jeans’ ad

In response to backlash American Eagle received for their ad campaign featuring actress Sydney Sweeney, the company has released a statement defending the campaign.

"'Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans' is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story. We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone," a post to their Instagram stated.

The ad campaign features blonde bombshell Sweeney, who says in one advertisement, "Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color. My jeans are blue."

Leftists quickly began attacking the ad, claiming that it’s "Nazi propaganda" and an "ad for eugenics." One social media user claimed the ad was "fasc-y coded," while another said Sweeney "is being used like the white woman in Handmaid's Tale."

The statement was met with support on Instagram. One user wrote, "don’t cater to the woke - keep making great denim AE," while another wrote, "kudos to yall for sticking to your guns!!"

"Thank you American Eagle for not removing these ads. Ppl are really reaching trying to find anything to victimize themselves with. I will continue to be a loyal customer, as I have been for the past 15 years."

Others were less than pleased.

One user wrote, "It’s really clear who you’re all aligning yourselves with and the world is watching and acting (shopping) accordingly." Another wrote, "at this point, you guys should just be putting 'whites only' in your bio." "Now you’re gaslighting us," another user wrote.
