A former security advisor to Vice President Mike Pence is predicting that Tuesday’s presidential election result will mean the unleashing of Donald Trump to make war on all of his political enemies. Writing for MSNBC, Olivia Troye, asks “What comes next?” For Troye, the answer is the veritable opening of a political Pandora’s Box that will turn America into a burning cauldron of retribution for the reelected president.
“First, we must worry about a possible significant uptick in political violence,” Troye warns, flagging Trump’s criticism of former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) as a “war hawk” as a prime example of Trump “putting a target on the back of anyone who opposes him” even as he will “pardon the Jan. 6 insurrectionists … who
could commit acts of violence on his behalf.” There will be no one to stop him.
Despite Trump’s commitment to free speech, Troye imagines that Trump is responsible for the demise of all mainstream media that she insists constitute the “free press” and will be the victims of Trump’s “intimidation.” She even suggests that Trump will make his own media company an “arm of the government” to broadcast “state-sponsored propaganda.”
The author sees dark clouds in Trump’s promise of mass deportations that are hugely popular with Americans but that she says will foster “a climate of fear and suspicion” while creating a labor shortage. Of course, she says Trump will pay for the removal of all these illegals through cuts to social security and the Affordable Care Act.
Troye imagines Trump creating a new corporate oligarchy overseen by entrepreneur Elon Musk that will fire “thousands” of government workers as casualties of cuts to the Deep State. “And what if there are prosecutions of those of us courageous enough to stand up and tell the truth about him? Justice will no longer be blind,” she writes in a moment of classic Democratic projection.
The bureaucrat notes how the loss of all these government experts will have a profoundly devastating effect on foreign policy and will undermine American prestige abroad while Trump frets about the value of America continuing to lead and finance NATO that “could leave allies abandoned and aggressors emboldened, the stability of Europe hanging in the balance.”
Finally, Troye envisions the next four years as some sort of vast right-wing inquisition of abortion providers, “people of color and the LGBTQ+ community” who will all lose “hard won protections” and be left to the mercy of those same right-wing extremists who supposedly plotted to take down the Biden administration on Jan. 6. “I also expect further corruption of the electoral process: more flagrant gerrymandering, the eradication of independent redistricting committees, and more loyalists in charge of state and local election boards,” she writes.
