Trump doesn’t talk like this at all. And this was several years before Epstein was originally arrested," Human Events Daily's Jack Posobiec said. Posobiec shared a post saying that "President Trump denied writing the letter or drawing the picture."
"This is not me," Trump said. "This is a fake thing. It's a fake Wall Street Journal story."
Trump also debunked the story in a comment to the Journal, saying "I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women. It’s not my language. It’s not my words."
The allegation from the Journal is that the birthday message was included in a book of letters collected by Ghislaine Maxwell. "Maxwell collected letters from Trump and dozens of Epstein’s other associates for a 2003 birthday album," the Journal states.
"I’m calling bullshit on this Trump 'birthday letter' to Epstein. It’s totally fake," said Laura Loomer. "Everyone who actually KNOWS President Trump knows he doesn’t type letters. He writes notes in big black Sharpie. Trust me, I would know. He doesn’t use email and he doesn’t type write. He writes messages in big black Sharpie."
"This is the dumbest attempted hit piece I’ve ever read," said Megyn Kelly simply.
"We have thousands of hours of Trump talking on camera and he's never once sounded like a gay twilight character," said another account.
"It isn’t clear how the letter with Trump’s signature was prepared," the Journal said. "Inside the outline of the naked woman was a typewritten note styled as an imaginary conversation between Trump and Epstein, written in the third person." The outlet shares an imagined dialogue between the letter writer and Epstein, which ends with the final line of the alleged letter attributed to Trump: "A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret."
The support from MAGA supporters over Trump's lack of involvement in the Epstein affair comes after a tumultuous week where it appeared that the president and his most vocal supporters were at odds. Trump has been definitive in his judgement that the administration, and the nation, needs to move past the Epstein debacle and that there's nothing left to discuss while many in the base have insisted that there's more to learn about the man and his alleged human trafficking of underage girls.
It appears that the MAGA base and President Trump are not that far apart.
