Ghislaine Maxwell is reportedly ready to speak before Congress about Jeffrey Epstein and his case. This comes as there have been questions surrounding the release of the Epstein files from the Department of Justice after a memo stated conclusively that he killed himself, did not have a "client list," and that there was no evidence suggesting that he blackmailed elite figures.
Maxwell, 63, currently serving 20 years behind bars on child sex trafficking charges, is ready to come forward to Congress to talk about Epstein, years after the disgraced financier's death in 2019, according to the Daily Mail.
"Despite the rumors, Ghislaine was never offered any kind of plea deal. She would be more than happy to sit before Congress and tell her story," a source for the report told the outlet. "No one from the government has ever asked her to share what she knows. She remains the only person to be jailed in connection to Epstein and she would welcome the chance to tell the American public the truth."
Maxwell was convicted of sexually exploiting minor girls as well as her role in Epstein's crimes and is serving a 20-year prison sentence. Maxwell has argued that because of a 2007 plea deal with Epstein, she should have been protected from prosecution in the case.
The report about Maxwell comes as there has been controversy in the Trump administration over the release of the Epstein files, with much of the backlash being targeted at Attorney General Pam Bondi, who earlier this year gave out binders of already available information on Epstein to influencers.
Many were disappointed to find out that the binders contained information already available to the public and wanted to see more. Now that a DOJ memo related to Epstein said there is no more evidence to prosecute third parties who some have claimed are associated with Epstein's crimes, many in the MAGA movement have been pushing to have even more of the files in the case released.
