A Texas National Guard unit successfully evacuated a group of stranded campers near Kerrville as part of ongoing emergency response efforts to the flooding in Central Texas.
The Texas Military Department released footage showing National Guard soldiers escorting campers to safety through rising floodwaters.
“Texas Military Department (TMD) personnel have been working around the clock to assist with evacuations and search and rescue operations,” the department said in its post.
Governor Greg Abbott confirmed that the state is deploying all available resources to support search and rescue missions, including National Guard troops and state troopers.
“Texas is providing all necessary resources to Kerrville, Ingram, Hunt and the entire Texas Hill Country dealing with these devastating floods,” said Governor Abbott in a statement on Friday.
“The State of Texas today has mobilized additional resources in addition to the resources sent in preparation for the storms. I urge Texans to heed guidance from state and local officials and monitor local forecasts to avoid driving into flooded areas.” This is a breaking story. Please refresh for updates.
