Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk has officially launched a new political party, announcing the formation of the America Party in a July 5 post on his social media platform X.
“Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom,” Musk wrote, following a poll he posted a day earlier asking his followers whether they would support such an initiative.
“Independence Day is the perfect time to ask if you want independence from the two-party (some would say uniparty) system,” Musk wrote on July 4. “Should we create the America Party?”
Musk’s poll found that 65.4 percent of respondents favored establishing the America Party. The announcement of the new party was made following Musk’s fierce criticism of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a sweeping measure signed into law by President Donald Trump on July 4....
