President Donald Trump signed a national security memorandum on Monday restoring hard-line policies on Cuba and reversing measures from the former Biden administration that had eased pressure on the communist-ruled nation.
The memorandum would enforce the statutory ban on U.S. tourism to Cuba and support the economic embargo of the country, according to a fact sheet issued by the White House.
However, the memo states that educational travel is permitted as long as it serves “legitimate educational purposes.”
In his memo, Trump directed his administration to end “economic practices that disproportionately benefit the Cuban government, military, intelligence, or security agencies at the expense of the Cuban people.”...
