Their anti-ICE remarks come in response to the Trump administration's mass deportation operations, which sprang into the spotlight on June 6 in Los Angeles when thousands of agitators mobilized to attack federal law enforcement officers conducting immigration enforcement operations, targeting illegal migrants with serious criminal convictions, according to Homeland Security.
A Teen Vogue report published on June 14 featured several anti-ICE celebrities urging Americans to financially support illegal immigrants and get involved in protests. Some of them attended the riots and condemned the Trump administration for federalizing the National Guard and deploying US Marines after they were annihilated with crowd control munitions.
Musician Finneas, the brother of popstar Billie Eilish, shared on his Instagram story last week that he attended a demonstration in Los Angeles and was "tear gassed almost immediately." He continued in another post, saying, "They're inciting this. F*ck ICE."
Singer Olivia Rodrigo, a lifelong LA resident, stated on June 14 during the "No Kings" protests that she was "deeply upset about these violent deportations." She then shared a link to the far-left ACLU website that offers guidance for illegal immigrants on how to evade being apprehended by ICE agents.
TikTok influencer Addison Rae shared a link to the National Immigration Law Center along with a statement, saying, "I am so disappointed and disturbed by what is happening across our nation. This country could not exist without immigrants."
Kim Kardashian also condemned the ICE raids, writing on Instagram earlier last week, "When we witness innocent, hardworking people being ripped from their families in inhumane ways, we have to speak up. We have to do what's right."
Additionally, Female Hip-Hop artist Doechii used her BET acceptance award speech on Monday to call out the Los Angeles ICE raids, referring to the operations as "ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities in the name of law and order."
"Trump is using military forces to stop a protest, and I want y'all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us," she said. "We all deserve to live in hope and not in fear, and I hope we stand together, my brothers and my sisters, against hate, and we protest against it."
Doechii's friend and fellow singer, Kehlani, shared a photo on Instagram in support of Doechii's speech, along with the caption: "Stop calling what's happening as L.A. RIOTS. It's RESISTANCE. Long live the resistance."
Hip-Hop artist Tyler the Creator kept his statement simple, sharing a photo on his Instagram story with added text reading, "F*ck ICE."
Despite the ongoing riots in Los Angeles, Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons and Border Czar Tom Homan asserted that immigration enforcement operations would not be halted in LA or any other sanctuary city impacted by anti-ICE civil unrest.
