Pro golfer Bryson DeChambeau was spotted playing golf on the White House’s South Lawn on Monday evening after the lawn was reportedly turned into a par 3 course, per Mediaite.
Trump was featured in a video from DeChambeau in July 2024, with the two playing a round of golf as part of the golfer’s "Break 50" series. DeChambeau was brought up to the stage during Trump’s victory celebration in November after winning the election, per the Palm Beach Post. DeChambeau has also played with Trump during a LIV golf pro-am.
The White House putting green was first installed by President Dwight D Eisenhower in 1954, but was subsequently removed during the Nixon administration. It was reinstalled under President George H.W. Bush in 1991, designed with the help of the United States Golf Association. Further improvements were made to the White House fixture under the Clinton and Obama administrations.
President Donald Trump is an avid golfer, with courses under his brand located around the world. One Florida golf course was the site of a second assassination attempt against him. Suspect Ryan Routh faces charges including the attempted assassination of a major presidential candidate, and his trial has been pushed back to September 2025, one year after the attempt on Trump's life.In April, DeChambeau said of Trump, "He loves golf, by the way. I think he’s such a great ambassador for the game of golf and for diplomacy, in general. It’s been fun to play some golf with him, get to know him a little bit better, and just recognize that he’s just a normal person," per Fox News.
