Democrat who filed impeachment articles against Trump $800k in debt, abandoned dogs, monkeys at lab he owned

WASHINGTON, DC- The “stunning and brave” new face of the Democrat Party, who took the “bold” step of calling for yet another impeachment of President Trump, looks to be detracting attention from his own issues, including campaign debt of around $800,000, the Independent Sentinel reports.

Earlier this week, Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI), who must take hair fashion advice from Connecticut Rep. Rosa Delauro (D-CT), filed seven articles of impeachment against Trump, in one case claiming he had “violated the Supreme Court’s ‘order’ to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a MS-13 gang member, to the United States. Of course, President Trump did not violate any such order. That, however, is not the subject of Thanedar’s issues.

Investigative journalist Laura Loomer has uncovered information that Thanedar is in debt to the tune of $730,313.82, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) records.

In 2019, The Detroit News reported that in 2016, Thanedar was sued in connection with a business fraud lawsuit alleging he inflated the value of a company he sold that year.

Avomeen Holdings LLC sued Thanedar, claiming economic damages of approximately $7 million to $8 million from the sale of his company, from which Thanedar had cleared over $20 million. Thanedar disputed any wrongdoing and filed a counterclaim seeking $2.5 million in damages.

In 2019, Thanedar settled with Avomeen, but the details of the settlement were never released. Thanedar founded Avomeen Analytical Services in 2010 after moving to Michigan from Missouri. He sold a majority share in 2016 and gave his 50 employees a $1.5 million bonus collectively.

In 2018, Thanedar spent $10 million in a failed run for governor in the Democratic primary, finishing last behind Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) and Abdul El-Sayed, a former Detroit health director. He has been running for office since, finally getting elected to Congress in 2020.

For animal rights advocates, Thanedar was accused in 2010 of shutting down a testing lab in New Jersey, AniClin Preclinical Services, after its parent company, Azopharma, which Thanedar owned, closed, the Daily Mail reports.

Months after the lab closed, local animal rights activists told authorities that 118 beagles had been abandoned in the facility, as reported by HuffPost at the time. Ex-workers at the facility told USA Today that they had jumped over fences to provide food and water to the dogs.

Even before being abandoned, insiders with knowledge of the operation said they had lived terrible lives in captivity and were subject to toxicology tests.

“We believe they have never been outside, ever,” an unnamed woman told the Times Herald-Record in 2010.

“I don’t think they’ve actually had their paws on the grass. When I walked in here, it looked like they were walking on eggshells. They were kind of afraid to walk on the grass.”

Two animal rescue groups eventually rescued the dogs.

Beagles were not the only animals abandoned at the site. Defense of Animals, a California-based organization, returned to the site to rescue 55 long-tailed macaque monkeys.

When confronted by the Daily Mail this week, Thanedar denied the allegations, calling them “completely false” and “repeatedly litigated.” He said “all of the animals were given to happy homes,” which is in stark contrast to claims made by animal rights activists in 2010. Thanedar claims animal rights are “a top priority” for him.

Thanedar deflected blame for the condition of the animals to Bank of America after it was seized in a bankruptcy case. Apparently, not being a good steward of money isn’t a new look for the esteemed congressman.

In contrast to his statement saying “all of the animals were given happy homes,” Thanedar told the Daily Mail that, “I have no knowledge how well the bank took care of the animals.” Either they “were given happy homes,” or he didn’t know how well the bank took care of the animals.

Thanedar is currently running again for governor against Whitmer and is leading the race. He calls himself “the most progressive candidate” in the race, and is trying to monetize his impeachment ploy against Trump into primary votes. He unveiled a laundry list of laughable allegations in his impeachment articles against the president, including obstruction of justice, bribery, corruption, abuse of power, and more.
