FORT WAYNE, IN - A man is now incarcerated after allegedly stabbing his roommate to death, authorities have reported.
Draylon Marquise Crutchfield, 25, has been charged with one count of murder, according to the Allen County Sheriff's Department records, Law & Crime reported.
The incident took place late Thursday night, July 24th at an apartment complex in Fort Wayne.
Upon arriving on scene, officers found 18-year-old Muhammad Williams suffering from multiple stab wounds.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital in "life-threatening condition" where he later succumbed to his injuries, the Fort Wayne Police Department said.
Crutchfield was quickly identified as a person of interest and later arrested at the scene of the crime.
Crutchfield told the police that before 9:00 p.m., Williams allegedly said to him, "Don't be going to sleep on my mama's couch."
This led to a verbal argument that quickly turned violent between the two men.
During the argument, Williams had an infant in his hands, which he later passed on to another person as the confrontation continued, according to Crutchfield and witnesses.
Williams' words allegedly became increasingly aggressive. "I finna beat the s-- out of you man," Williams allegedly told Crutchfield, according to the arrest affidavit. "I've been waiting on this s--."
At this point, Crutchfield allegedly said he was already holding a knife when he warned, "Don't run up on me bro, don't run up on me man."
Crutchfield said that Williams allegedly would not listen. He told police that Williams repeatedly punched him in the head before he admittedly stabbed the now deceased man an "unknown number of times."
After the stabbing, Williams supposedly ran and Crutchfield followed, knife still in hand.
Crutchfield, covered in blood, was armed with a kitchen knife in his right hand and told the neighbors he stabbed Williams after being punched in the face, trying to plead his case.
Another witness, who claimed to have witnessed the whole incident, said "the fight did not last longer than three seconds before Draylon had stabbed Muhammed," according to the affidavit.
Crutchfield is currently being detained in the Allen County Confinement Facility without bond.
