The suspect, who conducted a targeted shooting of state Rep. Melissa Hortman as well as her husband and Sen. John Hoffman as well as his wife, was impersonating a police officer, and had flyers with "No Kings" as well as a manifesto with a list of lawmakers' names in his fake cop car.
"When we did a search of the vehicle, there was a manifesto that identified many lawmakers and other officials. We immediately made alerts to the state. We took action on alerting them and providing security where necessary,” Brooklyn Park Police Chief Mark Bruley said, per the AP.
The Minnesota police also posted a photo of the "No Kings" flyers on X.
"Given the targeted shootings of state lawmakers overnight, we are asking the public to not attend today’s planned demonstrations across Minnesota out of an abundance of caution," the police said.
