Old Simone Biles post shows she once opposed men in women’s sports as trans feud with Riley Gaines continues

A social media post by Simone Biles has resurfaced in which the Olympic medalist expressed relief that men do not compete in women’s gymnastics. The post has drawn attention in the midst of a growing public feud between Biles and former NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines, who has been outspoken in her efforts to protect women’s sports from the inclusion of biological men who identify as transgender.

“Ahhhh good thing guys don't compete against girls or he'd take all the gold medals !!" Biles posted in October 2017 in response to a post from a now-deactivated account.

Gaines reshared the old post on X and responded, “Oop don’t you hate it when your past self completely undermines your current nonsensical argument? How has 2025 Simone reconciled with the fact 2017 Simone was a 'truly sick bully' by her own standard?”

The feud began Friday when Biles publicly criticized Gaines for speaking out against a trans-identifying male athlete who competed on a girls’ team in the Minnesota high school softball championship, helping the team secure a state title.

"@Riley_Gaines_ You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race," Biles wrote on X. "Straight up sore loser. You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports. Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!”

Biles also added in a separate post, “bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a male @Riley_Gaines_.”

Gaines responded by calling Biles’s comments “disappointing,” adding, “My take is the least controversial take on the planet. Simone Biles being a male-apologist at the expense of young girls’ dreams? Didn’t have that on my bingo card. Maybe she could compete in pommel horse and rings in 2028.”
