The Trump administration filed an emergency application with the U.S. Supreme Court on April 9 asking it to suspend lower court rulings that prevented the president from firing members of independent labor boards.
At the time of publication, the court had not asked the affected board members in Trump v. Wilcox and Bessent v. Harris to file a reply.
“The President should not be forced to delegate his executive power to agency heads who are demonstrably at odds with the Administration’s policy objectives for a single day—much less for the months that it would likely take for the courts to resolve this litigation,” Solicitor General John Sauer wrote in the application....
