White House Clarifies Executive Order Pausing IRA Disbursements

The White House Office of Management and Budget released a memo this week clarifying what authorized allocations can potentially be rescinded from the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law under a Jan. 20 executive order issued by President Donald Trump. The Jan. 21 memo from Acting Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director Matthew Vaeth essentially claws back some rescission ambitions to pull the plug on billions of appropriations. They were to be allocated through 2032 under 2022’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and CHIPS & Science Act, and 2021’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), the three signature bills of President Joe Biden’s “New Green Deal.”...
