Sources told Fox News that Duncan has been temporarily reassigned following her press conference appearance in which she said "this is not a terrorist event." Additional details were not disclosed about Duncan’s new position, but she remains with the FBI.
Following the presser in which Duncan made the statement, the FBI released a statement using the word "terrorism," as well as Attorney General Merrick Garland and President Biden.
42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar drove into a crowd of New Year’s revelers on New Orleans’ famed Bourbon Street, killing 14 and injuring dozens of others. Authorities recovered an ISIS flag from Jabbar’s pickup truck and the FBI said that he had joined the terrorist organization "before this summer." As Jabbar drove from Houston to New Orleans in the rented electric pickup truck, he reportedly posted several videos in which he proclaimed his support for ISIS. Jabbar was killed in a shootout with police when he exited the vehicle with a gun.
In the same press conference, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said, "know that the city of New Orleans was impacted by a terrorist attack. It’s all still under investigation."
