The video begins with Biden's Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland saying that she "always start[s] crying" when she talks about the topic, and added, "President Biden promised that he would have a cabinet that looks like America, and he did."
The video was posted with the caption, "President Biden made a commitment that his Administration would look like America. The result: President Biden assembled the most diverse Administration in US history."
The Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement said that the administration had an "incredible, full-throated commitment to equity" during the last four years under Biden. The video added that because of that commitment, there were "more women" and "more women of color" and other people in Biden's Cabinet that had "perspectives that have never been around a decision-making table before."
The video then cuts to Biden's Budget Director Shalanda Delores, who said that she was the "first black woman" to do the job. Biden's Chief of Staff, Jeff Zients, then appeared on screen, saying that because of the diversity in the Biden Cabinet, it led to "better decision making" over the last four years as the Democratic president has been in the White House.
The video continued along these lines, all the while there has been a national rejection of DEI at numerous corporations such as Facebook, Amazon, and others as Trump is on his way into office. Biden famously picked Vice President Kamala Harris after he said he was going to pick one of four black women he had in mind. Biden also promised to put a black woman on the Supreme Court, leading him to nominate Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
At the time of these promises, some in the GOP sounded off about how Biden was using race as a qualifier to select people in positions that would usually be chosen on factors that are more than skin deep such as merit and abilities.
