BREAKING: FBI confirms Trump was hit with a bullet during assassination attempt after Chris Wray told Congress it could have been shrapnel

The FBI confirmed on Friday that it was a bullet that hit President Donald Trump during the assassination attempt on July 13. This comes after FBI Director Christopher Wray suggested that it could have been shrapnel earlier this week.

A statement from the federal agency read: “What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle."

The statement was attributable to the federal agency, per Fox News reporter Bret Baier.

When Wray was asked about the eight bullets shot by Thomas Mattew Crooks at Trump and the crowd behind him, the FBI Director said, “With respect to former President Trump, there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that hit his ear.”

The statement from Wray contradicted available evidence at the time of the hearing. There was a picture of a bullet going past Trump’s head that had been taken the day of the shooting. In addition, a report from the New York times concluded, “a detailed analysis of bullet trajectories, footage, photos and audio by The New York Times strongly suggests Mr. Trump was grazed by the first of eight bullets fired by the gunman.”
