The House Rules Committee is considering two resolutions to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress on June 11 amid his defiance of congressional subpoenas.
If the committee opts to advance the matter, it will go before the full House for a vote.
Attorney General Merrick Garland has repeatedly refused House Republicans’ demands for the audio recordings of special counsel Robert Hur’s interviews with President Joe Biden and his ghostwriter. The Justice Department has provided transcripts and notes of the interviews and argued that it was not necessary to provide the recordings.
