The move is both a joke about DeSantis' purported support of granting statehood to Puerto Rico while also taking a jab at him for allegedly wearing heeled boots in order to appear taller, reports the Daily Mail.
"America knows Ron DeSantis loves boots (with lifts inside of them) and Puerto Rican statehood, so we couldn’t think of a better early Christmas gift to the governor than a pair of Puerto Rican flag boots," explained Karoline Leavitt, spokeswoman for Make America Great Again Inc.
She added, "We are willing to give the boots as a 'loan' so that the governor can get around Florida gift laws and accept the boots like he accepted a golf simulator from a wealthy donor."
This comes amid the #Bootgate controversy, a new viral topic in which people have debated whether or not DeSantis is using boot inserts in order to boost the appearance of his height.
DeSantis was confronted by PBD Podcast host Patrick Bet-David just this week, who urged him to wear a pair of shoes that he gifted to him while on air. The Florida governor had just said he is 5' 11", only to then be gifted and implicitly requested to wear a pair of high-end shoes from Ferragamo.
DeSantis rejected the present, telling Bet-David, "I don't accept gifts I can't accept it. I'm sorry."
